Mayer, AZ. Inspired by the tragedy of the earthquake in Haiti, and at the request of an Orme alumnus whose family founded the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer (HAS), two Orme School students, juniors Laura Loomer of Tucson and Maoly Hernandez of New York City, have organized a fund-raising and clothing drive to help Haitians.

The girls' goal is to raise at least $5,000 in support of HAS - the only hospital left standing in Haiti - which has become a triage center for the thousands of injured.
Students and faculty purchase Haiti Relief wristbands, or donate cash or used clothing. Already the girls have sent an anonymous gift of $2,500 to HAS. Clothing donations go to the Red Cross.
