The Arizona Association of Independent Schools is a consortium of private schools unified by a common vision -- to promote high standards, educational quality, and ethics as a banner of education in the state of Arizona. What are Independent Schools? Independent schools are different from public schools, charter schools, small private schools or parochial schools. Governed by their own board of trustees, AAIS member schools receive little government funding and are financed largely by tuition payments, charitable contributions and endowment revenues. Accreditation standards are rigorous at Arizona Independent Schools, and all AAIS members are validated by a national commission. Our mission is to educate the whole child, offering learning experiences that reach beyond core academics. Unlike many schools, Independent Schools have the freedom to promote creative thinking in hands on ways and to introduce students to exciting and challenging subjects including art, music, foreign language, global and environmental education and technology. .
