Welcome

The Arizona Association of Independent Schools represents ten independent schools unified by a common vision  -- to promote high standards, educational quality, and ethics as a banner of education in the state of Arizona.

Our mission is to educate the whole child, offering learning experiences that reach beyond core academics.  Unlike many schools, independent schools have the freedom to promote creative thinking in hands on ways and to introduce students to exciting and challenging subjects including art, music, foreign language, global and environmental education and technology.

What Are Independent Schools?

Independent schools are private schools that are independently governed by their own board of trustees. Different from public schools, charter schools, small private schools or parochial schools, independent schools receive little government funding and are financed largely by tuition payments, charitable contributions and endowment revenues.

 What Do Independent Schools Value?
  • Providing a safe environment
  • Employing high quality teachers
  • Maintaining discipline
  • Keeping students motivated and enthusiastic about learning
  • Supporting an atmosphere that says it is okay to study and excel
  • Individualized instruction
  • Accessible educators
  • Parent involvement
